Official Sponsors of the Hatfield Broad Oak 10k Road Race

Welcome to the HBO 10k Road Race

A big thank you to all our 2014 sponsors, runners and spectators for making the day so enjoyable and successful, we look forward to next year for the '30th Anniversary'

The HBO 10k Road Race is one of the most popular 10k races in the Home Counties, attracting approximately 1500 runners every year on the late May Bank Holiday since 1985.  The next race is May 25th 2015 @11am.  The race has a very special atmosphere, being held in the medieval village of Hatfield Broad Oak (near Stansted Airport) where the residents come out en masse to cheer you on as you loop through the village.

The course is a fairly flat figure of 8 through the beautiful (traffic free) country lanes, providing an excellent PB opportunity & the feedback from 2012 was exceptional, demonstrating that this was the most successful race to date.

Professionally managed, every entrant is provided with:

  • A 'Champion Chip' timing chip; gun time and their individual time over the measured 10k
  • A text within a few hours of the finish time.
  • The legendary HBO 10k technical T-shirt worth approx £15

Race and Village Information

The 10k road race is open to all runners who are 15 years or older on the day of the race. Younger runners & their friends / family are invited to enter the 1 mile Fun Run after the main race – no registration is necessary and the Fun Run is free of charge .

The HBO 10k is held on the same day as the Flower Festival in the beautiful 15th Century Church which adds interest for the whole family and many entrants make it a family day out.  Fresh food, drinks, displays and attractions for all the family can be found here.

The race is organised by the local school PTA with all proceeds going to the village school and other village charities and organisations.  In 2013 we helped groups ranging from the Cubs and Brownies & sports clubs for children, to the WI and a Christmas dinner for the over 60’s.
